17 Set New Single “Nuvem Negra” coming out 22nd September 2023
Nuvem Negra is a song written by Djavan and performed by Gal Costa. I have loved this song for a long time and have always wanted to record it. The beautiful arrangement was written by Fernan Mejuto Vazquez – it starts as a bolero and develops into a sensual samba.
Nuvem Negra was recorded live by Thomas Dippel at Dippel Studio in Schiedam and features Fernan Mejuto Vazquez on piano, Luciano Varela on double bass and Diogo Carvalho on drums and percussion. I feel very fortunate to have been able to work with these musicians, I love their sound and their openness during the creative process.
Nuvem Negra comes with artwork from Claudia Ignoto, one of my favourite visual and performing artists. Claudia uses paints and solvents on a glass sheet which she moves, obtaining all sorts of shapes and colours which are then reflected on the wall by a projector. These visuals form videos, performances and photos. I love the constant surprises in Claudia’s work.
